The Story


Hi! My name is Gabriella McMahon and I have been a certified Yoga Teacher since 2014. I opened my own studio - G.M. YOGA in 2016, and during my time teaching, I observed how participants who needed to use a yoga belt/strap during their practice, sometimes got left behind a little bit during a Flow or Vinyasa class - with the whole palaver of stopping mid-flow, to locate their yoga strap/belt, then to loop it, and put it round their toe, foot,  or to bind etc - by which time, the rest of the class had moved onto the next posture/flow.  So whilst doing what a lot of us did during the COVID pandemic, I did a lot of thinking and got creative.  I thought - wouldn't it be so much easier, if somehow, there was something that could work better than the yoga strap that yogis' are  so familiar with? An alternative!  I had a eureka moment, and came up with the idea of the Yoga Band. A small, and much less cumbersome alternative. It can be worn around the ankle, arm or both, so no fear of stopping mid flow to stop and get your strap, and go through the whole scenario of looping etc etc.  Simply wear it and stretch it to the desired length, then simply swap it onto the opposite limb for postures on the other side (or wear two – one on your right and one on your left side).


The Yoga Band has resistance, which give better alignment, so there is less slackness between arms and legs.  It has three loops, so can be adapted to suit however much stretch/length a participant requires.  The Yoga Band may not be suitable for everyone, but it is a great alternative if you just require a little bit more stretch length.  Why not give it a try?
